Gabriel “Gabe” Cortés was born in the County of Monterey and raised by his single mother, a dedicated public health care worker, in Salinas, California. In high school he was awarded a scholarship by the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts and was accepted to attend the Al Collins Graphic Design School, now known as Collins College. He graduated in 1997 with a degree in multimedia and visual communications and minored in computer and traditional animation.
Gabe quickly found employment as a digital illustrator and graphic artist for the award-winning, Arizona-based DW Green Marketing and Advertising firm before relocating back to Salinas.
Since 2011, he has worked as a graphic designer for the County of Monterey. Panels from his “The Misadventures of Vatoman and Ruben!” graphic novel now in development were recently exhibited at the SOMOS gallery in Oldtown, Salinas.
Married with a son and daughter, Gabe actively participates in community programs encouraging positive lifestyle changes for at-risk youth through the arts and sports. He also serves as a mentor in the T.H.U.G. Life (Through Him U’re Given Life) Ministries, Hijos del Sol, the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts, the Boys and Girls Club, and P.A.L. (Police Activities League) and coaches baseball for the Junior Giants Organization.
Kathleen “Kat” Gomez did an inconvenient thing at a young age: she fell in love with words. Those who suffer from this affliction know all the signs.
An infatuation with all things printed. The irresistible pull of libraries and bookstores. An inability to stop reading anything, anywhere, at any time.
At age eight, Kat enrolled in the Young Writer’s Workshop on Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, and saw her first poems appear in book form.
Many moons later, after honing her craft in school and earning a Bachelor’s degree in English from St. Mary’s University, she became a professional
writer and editor.
For more than a decade, Kat has grown personally and professionally by working in nearly every aspect of publishing and communications.
She’s been employed in the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors and has written for and/or edited educational books, magazines,
marketing pieces, newsletters, newspapers, software, standardized tests, and websites.
Kat brings commitment, creativity, and professionalism to each of her client’s projects. Based in San Antonio, Texas, she offers outstanding quality
at competitive rates. To contact her for project estimates or questions, please e-mail kat here.
